Brazos Valley
Currently in development, the TexHealth Brazos Valley Plan will offer healthcare coverage for employees of small businesses located in Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson and Washington Counties. The benefit plan is based on the multi-share or three-share concept and is being shaped with community input and will be managed locally.
The Brazos Valley Council of Governments (BVCOG) secured funding through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to develop a multi-share program. In partnership with the Center for Community Health Development, BVCOG is working with local employers, employees and healthcare providers to customize a regional plan. Representatives from the Texas A&M Health Science Center, St. Joseph Regional Health System, College Station Medical Center, Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce, local small businesses, the NAACP and other key community leaders serve on the project's advisory board. Work groups are studying potential healthcare benefits and costs, options for provider networks and models for program administration. The projected launch for the Plan is late 2009.
